One of the most challenging spots to fill is "Nursery Day" at Roxbury Holiness Camp.
The church is always in need of volunteers. Crossing Guards, Audio Visual, Hospitality, Children's workers...the list can go on and on. Sometimes it's a struggle, sometimes finding volunteers comes easy.
We're approaching the occasion that might hold the number one position in the category "It's hard to find volunteers"...Nursery Day at Roxbury Holiness Camp.
Why is that?
Well for one, there are many from Five Forks who have never been to Roxbury Camp, and some who have never heard of it. They are unaware of the rich tradition of this place. (Every year in August there are 10 days set aside where the Brethren In Christ gather at Roxbury for special services.)
Another reason is the proximity. Roxbury is a 30, 45 or even a 60 minute drive for some folks who attend Five Forks.
Another reason? The need for volunteers is during the day (Wednesday, August 6th from mid morning to late afternoon). Those who work during the day are excluded from being able to serve.
And some people just don't enjoy working with children.
And so you need someone (more than one of course) who is willing to drive a distance, play with children for a few hours, in the middle of the week.
This may not come easy for many, and so what we need are people who are willing to serve "sacrificially." And this is the best kind of service...the kind that stores up treasures in heaven.
If you are off on Wednesday, August 6th...if you don't mind driving or car-pooling....if you don't mind pushing kids on a swing or watching over them as they play with toys, then please contact Bob or Jo Tase at 762-2543. (Bob and Jo were kind enough to assume responsibility for this area of need. Let's help them out if we can. We need approximately 8 people - some can be youth - to travel to Roxbury on the 6th.)
Notes:
Every local Brethren in Christ Church is asked to help staff certain areas and times during the week of camp. Five Forks always gets "nursery duty" on Wednesdays, and we are also called on to help serve meals during one of the Sundays where the meeting takes place.
