GATES Service:
G-A-T-E-S... Godly Action Taught Every Sunday. This is a youth led Sunday service which takes place downstairs from 11am till Noon. The message is similar to the ones given by the Pastors at the other five Sunday morning services...just structured more for youth. One of our Youth Bands leads the time of worship.
Missions:
The youth at Five Forks participate in missions every year. One year we work with local missions and the following year we plan an overseas mission trip. With this format our youth have the opportunity to travel abroad twice while attending Five Forks. This year our youth will be traveling abroad.
ACTION Youth Night:
At Five Forks Church we have both Junior and Senior High Youth Groups. These groups meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:15. The teens meet for a time of praise and worship and then break into different classes for Bible Study. Some of the groups are t 7th-8th Youth, 9th-12th Youth, New Believers Class, Evangelism Class, and Athletes in Action. The goal of ACTION is for youth to have "all church teaching in one night". To have the opportunity to praise and worship with their peers and then go to a class where their specific needs and specific desires can be met.
Sunday School:
We offer Sunday School Classes for Junior High and Senior High during the second hour (9:30 - 10:30) of church. Our lessons and topics are all biblically based on helping younger people to stand strong in the world they live in and to be lights to their generation. We believe that in Matthew 28 Jesus said "go ye into all the World and make disciples..." That is our desire at Five Forks, to see our young people as Christ's disciples!
Outdoor and Recreation:
Our Outdoor and Recreation (ODR) is an outreach ministry within our youth ministry. Its objective is to first identify needs in our church and then to make opportunities for our youth to respond to these needs. Secondly ODR is an outreach to youth who are either not churched or not Christians. The goal is to give youth an opportunity to bring young people to an event that is non-threatening. College football games, amusement parks, hiking outings, bonfires and cookouts are just a few of the events that ODR can have. Our hope is that young people will come to an event and then be interested in doing more with our groups and eventually find a church home at Five Forks.
Youth Band:
Five Forks features three youth praise and worship bands. There are two senior high bands, and one middle school band. Our senior high bands play on ACTION nights and also at the new service during the third hour (11am - Noon) Sunday morning service that is for youth. They also play at special events throughout the year. The middle school band plays for children's church and also can play at special events.
