Our Mission at Birchdale… to be a fellowship of believers passionately “Helping people find and follow Jesus.”
We accomplish this aim through corporate worship services; opening our facilities to the community in ways that are in harmony with our beliefs; Bible studies of various kinds; support groups; home groups; children’s and teen programming; reaching out to the needy in our community; evangelism events; and individually building relationships with our friends, neighbours, coworkers, and fellow students.
Birchdale Community Church
Many of the people that I meet that don’t attend a church really don’t have a problem with believing in a God. They may have BIG questions about the state of the world vs. a loving God, or why there are so many denominations, or even religions in the world. Their biggest hang-up seems to be with the people that attend churches and don’t act in the way that Jesus taught. Perhaps they have even been hurt by people who call themselves Christians. So they back away, and are turned off of anything to do with church - especially involvement as members. It is our hope that even those who have been turned off of church will be open to not only giving God a chance in their lives, but that they will as individuals and as a church we will be intentional in Helping people find and follow Jesus.

The Brethren in Christ Church began sometime between 1775 and 1788 in Pennsylvania. In plain terms they were people dedicated to heart-felt devotion to God for their belief in Jesus Christ and the declaration that he raised Jesus from the dead on that first Easter Sunday. They dressed simply, and avoided “worldly” activities such as politics and certain amusements such as card playing. For most of the first 100 years of our church, worship services were held in the homes of members.
Today, Brethren in Christ churches can be found all across the United States and Canada, and in more than twenty-three countries around the world. For more information check them out online at
