About Jesus

Ah, Jesus! Who can define Him? He said of himself, "I am" which tells us He was before time as we know it and always will be after time ceases to exist. Yet our heavenly Father chose Him, his only Son to be in time for a short while. In human form he came to earth to live among us, to experience all that we do, to teach us how to enter God`s kingdom and eventually to become the bridge for us to reach God.

Why? God , whose very nature desires community with his creation, knew we would need someone to point us back to Him. Someone fully God and fully human who would be able to take on all our yuck, our selfishness, our innate nature to make incorrect choices and provide a remedy to turn that picture around. Jesus came to turn us back to God and He did it in the most glorious, painful crucifixion known on this planet. All of our sins, our mistakes past, present and future for everyone who has ever lived or will live, were heaped upon Him as He died for us.

That is only part of His story. Shortly after his death by crucifixion, God raised him from physical death to demonstrate that we, too, would have an eternal place with Him after time ceases to exist. Jesus, the one who was present at Creation, who lived for a time with us, died, was raised from a grave that could not hold him and is now in community with the Father, became the only bridge for us to cross to begin a journey with God.

Our stories can become intertwined with His story. At Westside, we are one small cell of a church without borders, welcoming all who desire to pursue questions about this Jesus, who are conscious of their need of a Savior and King. We are convinced that "knowing Jesus Christ" is a lifelong journey full of challenges , questions, miracles and love. We believe that it is a more productive journey when traveled together in community. We invite you to join us if you have no other church family. We would love to get to know Jesus with you.
