The Brethren in Christ Historical Society began in 1978. From its beginning, the Society has emphasized an understanding of the past as a guide to the present and the future. The house of Jacob Engel, one of the founders of the Brethren in Christ Church (courtesy of the Brethren in Christ Historical Library and Archives) The Society welcomes as members all who share an interest in this emphasis. Members receive the various publications of the Society and may participate in a variety of programs. The United Zion Church and the Old Order River Brethren are represented on the Executive Committee and Editorial Board of the Society.
