David "Gus" Braucht

I am 39 years old, married, and have two children, Joshua age 12 and Hannah age 9. I was born and raised in the central Pennsylvania area and spent 4 years in the USA Air Force, during which time I met and married my wife, Connie. I served my military time at Kessler AFB, Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi as a Surgical Services Specialist. I now work at Centre Community Hospital in State College Pennsylvania as a surgery technician. I am a member of and attend the Green Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Spring Mills, Pa.

My own call to go on this mission trip began when I met Mike Holland, our host in Venezuela, six years ago at a mission conference hosted by Green Grove BIC. At that time I was a youth leader at the church, and he invited me and the youth group of Green Grove to come to Venezuela. I didn't think that a trip of this kind could happen for the youth of our church, so I did not pursue the invitation. For the last 6 years I have thought about that invitation and have prayed for Mike, Sherry and their family; and for their witness there in Venezuela. Then I met them again in September of last year while they were speaking at our church. Once again Mike and Sherry extended an invitation to us and offered to be our hosts. I knew then that the Lord had a plan for us and that we should go and take the youth of our church.

I am especially excited to be exposing our youth to a personal involvement in mission work. I am even more excited that I will be able to do this with my own son. The timing of God is perfect and right and I pray that all that He has purposed for this trip will be done. Pray for me and my son - that we will bring honor and glory to the Lord through this mission that He has given to us.

Thank You!

Your Brother in Christ,
David Braucht
