Post-Project Journal
The team returned on June 27, arriving at the Green Grove Church around 7:30 in the evening. The brief paragraphs and several photos below are just a hint of the pages of information we hope to have up in the next couple of weeks. Please be patient and keep checking back.
From the start of our plane journey in Newark until our return there 15 days later, our days were filled with a constant string of surprises, difficult circumstances, rewarding friendships, hard work, fellowship and play, and growth in our spiritual lives. In other words, it was everything a missions trip should be.
It will take much time and thought for each of us to sort through the memories of all that happened in those two weeks, much less fully share them with others. For the moment, a basic chronology of the trip will have to suffice.
Our first nine days were spent mostly at the Fuente de Vida (Fountain of Life) ministry center, or camp. Team projects included the laying of a rock and mortar wall around the tin-tank swimming pool, fence-mending, brush clearing and cleanup, and a start on a new washroom facility. We made fast friends with the Sammy family and Alvin and Theta Book. Jose Sammy is the camp director and the Books are camp hosts for most of the summer.

We also had the opportunity to share our puppet ministry on the town square in nearby San Juan de los Morros, at the refugee camp of El Portal, and at the church in Cagua, about an hour away.
Our last five days were spent in the capital city of Caracas, where we went sightseeing and shopping, and shared again with the puppets in the Rey de Gloria church that Mike Holland, our host, pastors. We also went camping overnight on a little island in the Caribbean, where we snorkeled among the coral reefs and slept under coconut palms.
