a member of the Brethren in Christ Denomination

Senior Pastor

The Lanes

The Lanes came to Redland Valley Church in 2001.  Steve grew up in Boxford, Massachusetts and Liz in Raleigh, North Carolina.  They met at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where Steve earned his M.Div. and Liz her M.A. in Christian Education.  Steve and Liz have two boys.  Michael is 5 and Scott is 3.

Steve is an adjunct professor at Messiah College.  He teaches in the Biblical and Religious Studies department and the Communications department.  He began at messiah in 1999.  He is also a faculty member of Equipping for Ministry, (EMF) the Brethren in Christ continuing education program.  Steve also enjoys teaching stewardship and has
done so at various events such as the Stewardship University conferences.  He is also a volunteer financial counselor with Crown Financial Ministries.  Steve’s Doctor of Ministry thesis analyzes how faith affects financial decisions and the concept of dedicating our resources to God’s glory and the common good.

Steve serves on the Brethren in Christ Pension Fund and Health Trustees, the Susquehanna Conference Church Health Team, and Friends of TCZ, which is a prayer and financial support to support the Theological College of Zimbabwe.

Prior to Redland Valley Steve served as an intern at First Congregational Church in Boxford, Massachusetts, and then as an associate pastor at The Grantham Brethren in Christ Church in Pennsylvania.  Before they married in 1997 Liz worked in Children’s Ministry at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in California and Grace Chapel in Massachusetts.  Liz also served as Children’s Pastor at The Grantham Church for one year.
